Little Children

God calls us to be wise and discerning. But He also calls us to be like little children.

What is it about a little child that brings joy to our hearts? It’s a trust that doesn’t say, “Prove yourself to me.” It’s a joy that is not based on position, power, or purpose. It’s a joy that a two-year-old expresses when he says, “Mommy, watch me run!” He’s happy to be alive, and excited to bask in his mother’s love.

What if we were to have such a gratitude for our salvation that we would exclaim, “Jesus, You have freed my restraints! Watch me run!” No performance, no work, just pure joy in what He has done for us. I wonder what joy He would feel to watch us run.

SCRIPTURE

“I run in the path of Your commands, for You have set my heart free.” (Psalm 119:32, NIV)

“And He said, ‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.’” (Matthew 18:3, NIV)
