What does your life testify to? Does it reveal My strength in weakness … or your weakness trying desperately to be strong?
You may be able to fool others; you may even fool yourself. But I know what is happening. There is nothing in life you can do without Me.
Sometimes My people act as though they need to prove their strength to Me. I created you to be vessels for Me, letting My strength pour into you … and out through you.
I know the human heart. I know its ability to deceive itself. The walls of pride are thick. Control is a demon. Why do My people continually submit themselves to such a force? There is nothing so stifling to My Spirit as this insidious spirit of control.
[January 9, 1997: I believe that when I received this writing, God impressed upon me that it was applicable to every believer in His body. Control, pride, and deceit operate in various levels within His body; ranging from obvious “mega-doses” in a person’s life, to mild doses hidden to the human eye and ability to discern, except through the Spirit. Whether mild or mega, they all block the flowing of His Spirit, and prevent the freedom in communion with our brothers and sisters that is necessary if we desire to see God’s kingdom advanced. Paul says that the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17). It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. (Galatians 5:1).]
No human is exempt from the spirit of control. Our human nature, from the very beginning of time, wanted control. The question is: how does it operate in your life? In one life it may be obvious and ugly, but in another it may disguise itself in the form of doing good. If we want to move God’s kingdom forward in this time and in this place, then we must repent of all forms of control, receive forgiveness, and seek Jesus’ absolute total control of our selves and the lives of all those He has placed around us.
